Reiki is a wonderful form of hands on healing, although in saying that the practitioner does not have to even be in the same room as you!

Let me explain...Reiki is made up of two words Rei and Ki meaning Universal Life force energy. It was "re-discovered" by Dr Mikao Usui in the 1920's. Dr Usui 'attunened' many people to the Reiki energy and the knowledge surrounding it has grown from a small minority in Japan to many thousands across the world today.  

A practitioner of Reiki has gone through several 'attunment ceremonies' to enable them to access this wonderful energy and then acts as a facilitator in channeling the Reiki through themselves and  into the client. This then 'kick starts' the bodies natural healing system which enables the client to improve their own health naturally.

The client is usually lying or sitting comfortably infront of the practitioner in a very relaxed environment. Sometimes soft lighting, music and incense is used to create a calming atmosphere.

The energy generally flows through the client to any part of their body that happens to need it most. If the client suffers with stomach problems for instance then the energy will usually go there first and move to the next 'priority' place when the correct amount of healing energy has entered the place of imbalance.

Reiki practitioners will usually use a series of hand positions covering all the clients main 'chakra' (energy centres) and therefore ensuring that energy is evenly distributed to all the bodies organs as well as the entire physical, emotional, spiritual, causal and astral bodies.

As disease is caused by a disruption in the natural rhythm of energy within the body Reiki is very successful at restoring the bodies natural equilibrium!

Several ailments of the body, mind and spirit can be completely healed with the use of Reiki and or other energy healing systems but as we are all mere mortals it is inevitable that some more serious conditions are not. In saying that even terminally ill patients may report an ease of symptoms, better quality of life or simply feel more at peace and able to accept their condition and many people believe that Reiki can help the spirit adjust to the idea of 'passing over'.    

A Reiki therapist, no matter how well trained/experienced, is not qualified to diagnose or prescribe for any condition as this is the job of a medical practitioner. However their knowledge and inner guidance may prove very beneficial to finding  a root cause of an illness and treating it to the best of your bodies natural ability.

As the universe knows no boundaries of place or time Reiki energy can be sent distantly to clients who are unable to attend for hands on healing sessions. This happens by the client settling themselves comfortably and opening themselves up to receive the energy, this can be as simply as the client stating that they are ready to receive the energies, while the practitioner meditates and asks the energy to heal that person for there highest good.

You may well ask, what can i expect to feel during a Reiki treatment?

well people are all different and what can be an amazing spiritual experience for one might simply be a sense of relaxation and calmness for another. Some people can 'feel' the energy enter their body and can identify where it is at every stage. this may be because they feel a slight pressure, coolness, heat, tingling, or they just have an intention. Others may 'see' colours, have visions or re-play events in their lives which need healing. This will always be a gentle and healing experience and any emotion felt will be released at the time of the vision.

Some people will see nor feel anything dazzling but may feel very calm, peaceful and relaxed. The experience is very personal and is one to be enjoyed so go with it. You may be pleasantly suprised.

A treatment will usually last 45-60 minutes. Longer treatments may be necessary initially and shorter treatments may be undertaken after the inital healing period but this will be discussed with you as and when appropriate. Childrens sessions generaly last around 15 minutes although the consultation may take quite a while. In the case of small children I tend to send the healing distantly on a nightly basis for one week at a time then see them once a week or so to test for improvement.

Treatments are usually advised on a weekly basis to begin with and after 4-6 sessions dropped to fortnightly or monthly maintaince program.

A giving hour session with me will include chakra balancing for maximum effect. Crystals may or may not be used. Again this will be discussed as appropriate.

Reiki course's and levels!

Rei Ki, (Universal life force energy), as discussed on the 'reiki healing' page was re-discoverd by Dr Usui in the 1920's after 21 years of studying several Religons in the hope of finding the secret behind 'Hands on healing'. This gift and knowledge was then passed on to many healers including Dr Hayashi and Mrs Takata. Who in turn passed this on and eventually the secret of reiki became a world wide knowledge.

Reiki has been broken down into 4 levels.

Level I - An introduction to Reiki energy and it's benefits including how to conduct a self treatment and treating friends, family, animals, plants etc. Includes full history of reiki. Basic knowledge of chakra system and the 6 bodies of man. 4 attunements, practice time. Full manual and certificate. 

Price £85

Level II - The Practitioners level enabling professional practice with the public. Includes 3 further attunments. Learning 3 symbols (Power, mental & emotional and Distance/past/present symbol). Chakra balancing with crystals, more on grounding and protecting, practice time. Manual and a certificate allowing the student to gain insurance to practice professionally.

Level III - The Master level, which in my opinion is the starting point of the real journey! Discussion and re-learning of the previous 2 levels. One attunment which will connect you to the final and strongest symbol (Empowerment symbol). Master healing attunment. Manual, Certificate and information on the final level - TEACHERS!

Level IV - The Master Teacher level. Comprised of a two day course covering each of the previous levels. How to pass on attunments. How to build a folder for teaching. Aims and objectives. Another attunment to Master level (if required).This is a level which requires real commitment and dedication to heal and teach people to heal for their own highest good and not yours! Not all ways easy! Not everyone who takes Reiki to Master level will go on to teach it but there are so many benefits to teaching. Meeting new students and learning with them being my favorite one!

Level III and IV maybe taken together can be combined into a two day weekend course or two seperate days taken within one week of each other.

Price of double course (III & IV) £400

All courses except Level 3 can be done over 1 or 2 days. 2 days is lovely if there are 2 or more students, as you get more time to bond with the other students, ask questions and have more practice time.

Level 3 is one day only as there isnt as much theory.

Although Dr Usui was attuned to all of the Reiki symbols at once it has been proven more benefical to those of us who maybe havn't spent the last 21 years in deep spiritual meditations, to have a resting period between levels of attunment. This is for two reasons.

a)To allow suitable time for the practitioner to learn how to feel the energy and work with it at a pace of one level at a time and...

b)To allow a suitable cleansing period, where old emotions may ripple to the surface to be cleansed and released once and for all.

Distance Learning

Distance learning is a very effective way to learn a new skill from your own home, in your own time. The Attunement, manual and certificate are all delivered to you via email. You are offered as much online support as you may need whilst learning and also while you practice with your new qualification should you need it! You may start learning your new course as soon as you receive it and all the information you may need is included so if you are a complete beginner in energy therapies you will feel confident to practice healing both on yourself and others very soon!
